I recently relaunched my writing experiment, the fictitious design agency, FPO and with this update, I'd love to share another scifi-design case story! (ahem, I mean, a free, illustrated scifi short!)!
Once you've digested the first, fully-illustrated design story “MVP: Release Thé, virgins,” learn to beware the ring light with FPO's latest case story. “UAT: C2U waits dreaming” remembers FPO co-founder Anthony Bass’ tragic design sacrifice in the face of digital transformation and cosmic horror. The case story also spawned a killer (heh) graphic- and UX-design game, Hitvetica—basically punch buggy for typophiles.
Calamity rides on Audible
I've got some big news for anyone who's ever wanted to hear Calamity Jane talk trash about spacemen: Crossroads Press and Actress and narrator Naomi Rose-Mock have brought Calamity Jane and her gunslinging Green Man to life on Audible.
Wether you’re new to this violent reimagining of a frontier legend and her alien gunslinger or have already followed them through the Wilder West, you’ll be thrilled listening to Calamity on audiobook. It's an amazing performance—available now on Audible.
Shorts + autographs for the holidays.
Unlike every other author's newsletter—shilling their books (of course!)—I want to give you something, this season: "The Devil’s Own Pet," a free short story set in the same Wilder West Calamity Jane and the Green Man ride through in Calamity.
Some cool content from my Facebook author page, including free autographed bookplates for Calamity; a look at Simon Stålenhag’s follow-up to Tales from the Loop; another reboot for everyone’s favorite spaceman, Buck Rogers, and my first love, Colonel Wilma Deering; and this years Hugo winner.
Scifi + Design = Free fiction
Introducing FPO, a fictitious design-thinking agency specializing in super-science and the paranormal, and it’s first case study—"MVP: Release Thé, virgins"—the story of an eerily-accurate fortune-telling startup that leverages technology and our greatest fears to produce a killer app.
Some cool content from my Facebook author page, including a 411 on WFH, a detailed breakdown of the new Dune trailer, a fascinating and timely curriculum developed to support fans of Lovecraft Country, and plea for everyone to read my favorite novel ever.
